Total wireless phone sales were up in the first quarter as the latest IDC record reveals that Samsung, HTC and Apple are the major overall victors in the smartphone market at this time. A sum of 99.6 million smartphones were shipped in the first quarter of 2011, comprising Symbian phones and smartphones powered by Android and Bada in the mobile trade.
Samsung, which came in as the top pick of the quarter, basically shoot up on delivery growth of 350% year-over-year. Samsung shipment expanded to more than 50% of delivery across the globe, from 2.4 million to a substantial 10.8 million smartphones en route in Q1 2011. From Western Europe to the US, Bada smartphones, which accounts for more than 2 million units shipped, and the vast Android smartphone fleet such as Samsung’s Windows Phones and Samsung Galaxy S 4G, are making a gigantic splash in the mobile scene.
